Share the Results of Your Study
There are several reasons that sharing your study are important. One is that it could bring to light any questionable conclusions from your study. It is our goal to understand what has always been in Scripture and not to just come up with unique and original interpretations. Unique and formerly unheard of interpretations usually lead to error. Sharing with others helps protect us from those errors.
We also share with others for the sake of encouragement. When applying Scripture it is a comfort to know there are others pulling for you. It is more than a comfort to know that they are praying for you. Christianity is not a Lone Ranger activity. Jesus has reconciled us to God and to each other. He has united us into his body so we no longer have to go it alone.
In addition to sharing with each other, this is also the time to consult commentaries by trusted Christian teachers. This allows us to compare our work with biblical scholars to make sure we are on the right track, but it does more. Scripture has enough depth for more than a lifetime and a good commentary will open your eyes to more truth.
