Mike Olejarz

I am originally from Detroit, Michigan. I grew up in a neighborhood full of kids and discovered in sixth grade that I was really good at sports. I am the oldest of four kids born to my parents and remember my childhood as a safe time, surrounded by family and friends, school, and play. I learned lessons my parents taught and modeled about hard work, the value of good character, belonging, being a person of your word, kindness, generosity, and the joy of laughter.

My hobbies today still include sports like hockey, cycling, and golf, along with collecting baseball cards, reading Sherlock Holmes mysteries and Spiderman comics, and watching re-runs of Star Trek: The Next Generation, The X-Files, and The Flintstones.

I have been married to my wife Barbara since we finished graduate school at Ohio University in August of 1982. We have two children, Sarah, a graduate of Merrimack College in North Andover, MA, and a son, Josh, who is a college student at Northeastern University in Boston, MA.

I have been the metro director of Chi Alpha Campus Ministries - Boston since 1996. I also have directed Chi Alpha at The Massachusetts Institute of Technology from 1996 to the present. Previous to coming to Boston, I served with Chi Alpha in Ohio at the local, state, regional and national level.
